HEAT METER QALCOSONIC E3 – ANOTHER LoRaWAN CERTIFIED PRODUCT

Following the announcement of implementation of LoRa technology in the new generation heat meters Qalcosonic E3 this summer, Axioma Metering received international recognition – LoRa Alliance confirmed that this meter passed all the tests included in the LoRaWAN CertifiedCM certification programme and became a LoRaWAN certified product.

LoRa technology is the most promising and widely used technology of the so-called Internet of Things (IoT) – a low-power wide-area network (LPWAN) protocol designed to allow wireless communication of things operated on a battery in regional, national or global networks. The main advantage of LoRa technology is long distance data transfer, while it does not require any additional complex solutions and equipment, and allows connecting various sensors, while monitoring the measurements in the network or via wireless connection.

The certificate received confirms that Axioma Metering device fully conforms to the LoRaWAN specification – a standard declaring how a device must operate correctly according to the LoRa technology, even in combination of other manufacturers’ equipment. “We were among the first to adapt the LoRa technology in the heat meters. Our present Qalcosonic E3 can offer a great deal of assistance to utility services companies. It is easy to use and is highly cost-efficient: with the help of LoRa technology, the data can be transmitted at a distance of 7 km without additional equipment,” said Mantvydas Vaičius, Head of Heat Meter Department.

The ultrasonic energy meter Qalcosonic E3 is used to measure energy used for heating or air-conditioning in private and apartment buildings, and companies. It features flexible programming settings – the users can individually select the heat energy measurement unit (MWh, GCal, GJ) and meter installation point. The battery service life is 16 years.

Axioma Metering, the manufacturer of smart water and heat metering devices, became a member of LoRa Alliance international association in the spring of this year. Its members maintain close cooperation and share experience, thus promoting the success of LoRaWAN protocol as the advanced secure global IoT LPWAN network standard.
