In 2020, Heitland, a leading German distributor and manufacturer of water and gas meters, partnered with Axioma Metering to future-proof smart water metering in Germany. The collaboration was driven by the need for a highly flexible, future-ready metering solution that could evolve with market demands.

Axioma Metering was the first to offer a meter with both Wireless M-Bus and LoRaWAN communication, enabling utilities to start with a well-known technology and later upgrade remotely without replacing the meter. This future-proof approach, combined with Axioma Metering’s commitment to innovation, made the partnership a natural fit.

Today, the project has grown significantly, with 500,000 smart meters deployed across 250 utilities, supporting Germany’s transition to digital water management.
