Qalcosonic W1 smart ultrasonic water meters manufactured by UAB Axioma Metering were awarded by the U.S. NTEP Certificate of Conformity.
NTEP stands for National Type Evaluation Program, an approval system created by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standard and Technology (NIST) and the National Conference on Weights and Measures (NCWM). NTEP approval is endorsed by most states as being the benchmark to allow a device to be used as a legal for trade point of precious resources. NTEP approval basically tells the market that the measurement device has proven itself to be reliable and accurate. This is vitally important when precious resources such as potable water are sold by volume.
NTEP certificate is required and accepted already in 46 U.S. states, and the number is growing.
"In order to obtain NTEP approval, we had to perform the long and complex tests in the accredited U.S. laboratory. We have sent our meters for compliance testing to the Utah Water Research Laboratory (UWRL) at Utah State University. We have selected Utah Water Research Laboratory, because it has been a leader in water and environmental research for over 50 years. It is one of the first and largest university-based water research facilities in the United States and is considered one of the most respected facilities of its kind. After all, we are very proud that our product has passed the tests successfully, and the NTEP certificate was issued,” says Giedrius Vaitkūnas, Product manager at Axioma Metering.
NTEP certificate, will allow Axioma’s W1 ultrasonic meter to be widely used in USA’s submetering market.
